On 30 September 2006 the United States Congress passed The Safe Port Act, which included the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.
The “Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act” doesn’t prohibit US players to gamble online. It prohibits the use of banks and electronic checks to transfer money to online gambling operators. That means that if your state doesn’t have a specific law against online gambling it is legal for you to gamble online. Currently, the following stats do have laws against online gambling – Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Wisconsin. If you do not live in those stats it is legal for you to gamble online at online casinos and online poker sites.
